As Director of Special Projects for this Dog DNA Test company, I reported directly to the C-Team on high-priority efforts like a packaging redesign, logistics efficiency (CSAT), new hire onboarding & training, bioinformatics pipeline rebuild (faster & consistent results turnaround), fundraising (Series A), product design (preventative recommendations for nutrition, exercise, allergies), go-to-market strategy for breeders & veterinarians, branding, street team assembly, internal testing and reporting systems for all functional areas, and recruiting.
My role at Embark was that of a pseudo-COO.
As Director of Product, my responsibilities were agile project management (via Atlassian: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket) – roadmap development, requirements gathering, specification, QA & bug reporting, documentation, and marketing coordination (PR, analytics, optimization) for launch.
While part of the uBiome partnerships team, we launched an academic consortium to elicit research proposals and build awareness of our industry-leading microbiome sequencing technology. By the end of my contract (one week), over 300+ researchers had requested to learn more about becoming involved, which eventually led to a collaboration with the CDC.
Personalize your world, for better health.
Our first experiment: food informed by the genome + microbiome. We're still brainstorming, but imagine: recipes, ingredients, and on-demand deliveries that are formulated to a person's specific needs and preferences, preventing diseases for which we're at risk, improving mental/physical performance, and ultimately helping us lead happier, more fulfilled lives.
